GET THE LOOK :: PRETTY PAILLETTES

Tis' the season for sparkle ladies! There's something about this time of year that brings out a wild attraction to all things sequined for us girls. Cristina here with your glitter fix for today in the form of extra large sequins, or paillettes, en Francais!

If you look closely at our street style inspiration you'll find that there are actually no rules for sporting paillettes, all it takes is a bit of confidence. Be brave! Be bold! I paired this embellished mini skirt with even more sequins on top - I can't help it, it's the holidays! The collar necklace is a fun trend I've been dying to try, and what better occasion than a Christmas party?

I imagine it would feel quite thrilling to enter a fete with your paillettes swishing, not to mention the moves they could pull on the dance floor!

WHAT TO WEAR :: BLACK FRIDAY

It's coming ladies, the biggest day of the shopping year! Whether you love it or hate it, Black Friday is an event that requires planning, patience and determination (even just to get into the parking lot). The last thing we want to worry about is what to wear amidst the chaos, so here's a fail proof outfit to weather the shopping storm.
Get the Look street style New Balance sneakers
Stilettos are of course a beautiful addition to any street style photo, but how many of us will be rocking a 5-inch heel when negotiating the Target throngs this Friday? Probably 0%. Of course, if you have the guts to brave Black Friday in heels, power to you! But a sensible pair of sneakers is much more practical, and luckily for us right on-trend too.
    20111116_8
Apparently the fashionistas' sneaker of choice is New Balance, a shoe I typically associate with my dad and P.E. teacher; however the classic sensibility of this sneaker is the perfect addition to a casual shopping suit. I'm constantly fighting the fashion battle between comfort and style, but I always prefer to do my shopping in an ensemble that will inspire me to make smart purchases. This suit and sneakers combo ticks all the boxes!
get the look new balance street style
For this look I paired a simple black blazer with easy fit drawstring pants (which we'll be thankful for post-Thanksgiving). Add a watch to keep the trip on track, an ipad case for quick price comparisons and digital shopping lists, a carryall tote, and of course some stylish kicks. What's your Black Friday uniform?

GET THE LOOK :: BREAKIN' ALL THE RULES

Whoever said 'no white after Labor Day' must not have invested in a fabulous pair of white jeans. Because anyone who has ever felt the joy of finding the illusive flattering white pant has also known the anguish of parting with them for the long cold winter. It's Cristina here and I'm taking a stand! White pants, double denim, we're tackling all the hard issues, who's with me girls?
street style white pants denim chambray shirt
See? It's not so bad. For those of us who still haven't tried the daunting trend of double denim, this is a great way to get started. If your pants are a thicker denim (and I'm assuming they are if they're white) then try a thinner blue chambray on top. And the denim collar would look perfectly on-trend peeking out of a slouchy knit sweater this season.get the look street style white jeans denim shirt
Add a few fall accessories like black ankle boots, a cranberry clutch, even a leather jacket and you're well on your way. If it weren't for the threat of spilled cranberry sauce and the non-stretchiness of the waist band, this would be my Thanksgiving look for sure!

GET THE LOOK :: PUT A LID ON IT

This timely trend could be a nod to the World Series, but let's be honest it probably has more to do with combating bad hair days! The baseball cap is a casual accessory that says "I'm a laid back fashionista who doesn't try too hard," and our challenge is to avoid looking like we didn't try at all.
cocokelley get the look baseball cap
The best options are plain hats (without branding) in neutral colors like black, grey or navy. My top tip is to check the men's section when shopping, they'll have the most selection.
cocokelley get the look baseball cap street style
These lovely ladies all wore their hats with layered outerwear in dark tones like blacks and blues, so I chose a sharp navy trench coat. Because a baseball cap is a boyish piece by nature, I paired it with a dress and accessories that have a bit of sparkle. This casual look is easiest when worn with simple jewelry and a pair of flats, making it the perfect option for days when you're on the go!
get the look cocokelley baseball cap
This is an inexpensive trend that will add a new casual element to your smart winter coats, and I have a feeling I'll be reaching for this piece a lot this fall!

GET THE LOOK :: PRINTED PENCIL SKIRT

The collections of Spring 2012 have proven to be a celebration of femininity, and not a moment to soon! Menswear is fun 'n all, but the girly girl in me rejoiced at the floral prints and figure-flattering cuts of Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. It's Cristina from Fuji Files here with one key piece to get the lady-like look right off the catwalk: the printed pencil skirt.
street style pencil skirt carine roitfeld
Unfortunately the pencil skirt is most often found in its somber pinstriped form, sadly relegated to black and grey work uniforms. Not for long! As the signature silhouette of fashion royalty Carine Roitfeld, this slender skirt is popping up in modern patterns from florals and animal prints to stripes and lace - choosing a print is the hardest part!
street style pencil skirt carine roitfeld stephanie lacava

Because the silhouette is so form-fitting, this style is best worn with a modest cut top like a boatneck or long-sleeved crew neck (especially for day). Keep the jewelry to a minimum and let the skirt make the statement.
get the look street style pencil skirt diane von furstenburg
I chose a bold pattern and patent leather purse to distinguish this from office attire. Finish the look with heels to lengthen the leg (particularly important with the cut of this skirt). And in case of cool fall weather, an edgy leather jacket would add the perfect contrast to this modern feminine ensemble!

GET THE LOOK:: WRAP IT UP

What to wear when the weather hasn't quite caught up with our desire to bundle up and layer? When unpredictable temps have us peeling off our beloved layers only to put them on again. Some call this lovely season transitional but I call it tricky! Cristina from Fuji Files here with a transitional tip to get you through the season.
get the look scarf wrap street style
Wraps are an excellent fix for fall because they're as easy to throw on as they are to take off, and they add an effortless air to any outfit. I love the laid back boho feel of an oversized scarf, but I like to keep the rest of the look polished when sporting this trend (so as not to look like I walked out of the house in a blanket!). We're only a few days into fall so I kept this look bright with a light tee and fun salmon colored trousers.
get the look stree style blanket wrap scarf
This is an easy way to add pattern to an otherwise neutral outfit, and there are lots of great patterns to choose from right now like Aztec and Southwestern inspired prints! I chose a pretty paisley and paired it with metallic heels for that extra glam factor. If you're up for adding one more fall accessory to the mix, top it all off with a felt fedora!

GET THE LOOK:: GO-TO CHIC

Every girl needs a go-to look. A quick ensemble that ticks all the boxes - chic, pulled together, and multi-functional. It's Cristina here with a solution for those "I have nothing to wear!" moments.
get the look blue collared shirt
A smart blue collared shirt with black slim fitting jeans is endlessly sleek, and most of all simple! It almost feels too easy, in that effortless Parisian kinda way - and that's ultimately what we're all going for right?

So next time you receive a last-minute invite to Fashion Week (if only!) or you're heading straight from work to a dinner party, take a cue from these fashion editors and it girls.
get the look street style blue collared shirt
You probably already own a blue collared shirt and black heels, so it should be fairly easy (and affordable) to achieve this look. This outfit is a prime candidate for that coveted "high-low" style. The trick is to camouflage your lows, like the $20 glasses and the $29 shirt, with your highs (the heels!). Overall this technique makes pieces like the $49 Zara bag look much more expensive than they really are!

get the look blue shirt skinny jeans
The key to this super simple look is in the styling. Be sure to tuck the shirt in, and for a menswear edge you can add a belt. For a modern take roll your pant cuffs up to the ankle. In the evening switch ballet flats out for black heels, and if you want to add a bit of extra glam opt for jeans in a wax-coated finish as they have a similar sheen to the leather looks worn above. Remember to keep the accessories very minimal, as this look is all about effortless style!

GET THE LOOK :: VINTAGE FLORAL

Raise your hand if your closet is full of solids and staples (guilty!). Prints can get a little intimidating, and you have to find the one that works for you, but I'm loving the vintage floral trend as an incredibly chic way to introduce a little pattern into your wardrobe.  Cristina from Fuji Files here to share a few tips on this ladylike print.

get the look street style floral skirt
Ideally you'd stumble upon a perfect vintage find on your next shopping outing, but in case you don't, seek out new pieces with a classic silhouette like a pencil or A-line skirt. Since the style is a little bit retro, we'll want to update the the look with modern accessories - here I've picked out some platform pumps, a foldover clutch, and an oversized men's watch. If you're really ready to step up your pattern game, throw a striped knit over a polished dress!

A healthy dose of color, fearless pattern mixing, and some serious accessories take a pretty little vintage floral straight from past to present.

GET THE LOOK: FLURO FASHION

If you're looking for a way to spice up your basics, neon yellow is an uplifting addition to any ensemble. Cristina here from Fuji Files with my tips on how to style this highlighter hue.
get the look neon street style
Unless you are blessed with supermodel proportions I wouldn't recommend a neon pencil skirt, but a fabulous bag works with every figure! I chose a smart satchel in the electric color. Inspired by its British prep school feel, I paired it with a collared shirt and loafers a la Alexa Chung. The easiest way to work this trend is by wearing it with neutrals, so keep the rest of the look simple (unless you're feeling extra daring) !

GET THE LOOK: WHITE OUT

Summer is the most difficult time of year to get dressed. It's hot, it's humid, and comfort is top priority. Let's be honest, Scott Schuman would not want to photograph us in our tank top and flip flops ensemble. So how do we make ourselves presentable? Cristina from Fuji Files here with your sartorial survival guide to hot summer days.
GET THE LOOK street style white
White is the coolest of colors for summer, literally! The color white reflects sunlight and heat more than any other color, making it your best option for keeping cool. But if the thought of an entirely white outfit is slightly terrifying (it certainly is for me!) then mix in some creams and nudes.
GET THE LOOK street style white nudes
The key to this look is keeping it light and airy, not too structured. A loose collared shirt is an easy breezy choice for summer, pair it with textured shorts or skirt in a neutral shade and you've got instant style. Add a few accessories such as cute sandals and a tote, and you're done! An easy summer ensemble that is both cool and stylish.

GET THE LOOK: CALL OF THE WILD

Hello ladies! It's Cristina from Fuji Files here to show you how to get the 'fashionista who stole her little brother's tee shirt and still looks fabulous' look. Sound impossible? Observe how these lovely ladies pulled it off.

Sharks, panthers, and rottweilers... how on earth do these girls turn these boyhood favorites into fashion finds? Simply add a mini-skirt and fashion-forward accessories into the equation! Warning, wear this shirt with anything other than a mini-skirt (ie jeans) and you run the risk of actually looking like a boy. So be sure to keep the rest of the look edgy and feminine!

GET THE LOOK: ORANGE PANTS

Most of us have long avoided the color orange because of the all too common jack-o-lantern effect: orange + black = Halloween. And, when attempting an orange ensemble it seems that suddenly everything else in my closet is black! Cristina from Fuji Files here to show you how to get the look without the scary side effects.

Girls everywhere are dawning big doses of color in everything from skinny to wide leg and cropped trousers. These pants are also the perfect way to try your hand at the color block trend, so pick a top in a solid color and steer clear of patterns and prints.

Start with orange trousers in an easy, flattering fit like these linen pants by J.Crew. Pair them with a simple white tee and then play with the accessories! To avoid looking like a pumpkin, skip the black and accessorize with blues instead. Blue is the the best alternative to black and is a perfect match with orange (complimentary colors on the color wheel!).

GET THE LOOK: GINGHAM GIRLS

Hello ladies! Today we'll be borrowing a look from the boys: the classic gingham button-down shirt. Cristina from Fuji Files here to show you how to mix some menswear into your feminine summer ensembles.
Gingham has been spotted peeking out from the collars of the smartest street stylers - here are their techniques for styling the picnic blanket print.

Mixmaster Kelly Framel topped her tough look off with glittery gold stilettos! Take a page from her book and include feminine textures like lace and gold in your menswear-inspired outfit. Blogger Blair Eadie and model Freja Beha Erichsen both layered their gingham shirts to perfection with the model-off-duty staple: a t-shirt. The foundation is simple enough, layer your favorite tee with a gingham shirt (buttoned all the way up for extra style points) then add feminine textures and colors like lace and coral!
