FOODIE FASHIONISTA: PARTY PINK!

Happy December Lovelies! (Yes, December, already...) Crissie from Chicasaurus-Rex here, and I am ready to ring in the holiday season, which means it's time to get ready for lots of holiday entertaining! To kick things off, how about starting with something a little nontraditional for this time of the year... color wise at least.

Bring on the pink! And if you plan to serve an ombre cake, like this pretty little thing (which I think you should) you'll also need a lovely pink ombre floral centerpiece. Clearly. Wear a girly polkadot dress and a pair of Mary-Janes to complete the party perfection!

KNACKERED

I'm positively spent after this week, but I've got to push on through because this weekend is the weekend we wrap the Anniversary Issue of Rue!

Heading to LA tomorrow to put this puppy to bed so that I can finally put myself to bed too. Very excited to see it all come together, and share the fabulousness with you all! Until then... I'm taking the day off to pack and cross some things off the to-do list before I hop another flight!

POP OF COLOR (YEAH, I SAID IT)

Before I even launch into this post, can we all promise to not roll our eyes at the term 'pop of color' anymore? I don't understand why people seem to be so sick of this little phrase. As overused as it may be, it happens to perfectly describe the situation: a sea of neutrals or safer tones punctuated by hit of something bold. Which happens to be just what I'm hunting for for my apartment right now...
color furniture bookshelf chair mirror console
I've noticed that throughout my inspiration files there is rarely a use of all-over color, but rather, this pop. A little accent. A little unexpected. A little dose of something fun and fresh. So, I'm on the hunt for some pieces to fit the bill, and thankfully I've found a few options that are fairly affordable!
aqua bookshelf pink console blue coffee table
Loving the Parsons Bookcase in this aqua, just like in the inspiration pic (it also comes in a few other fabulous shades), and the endless variety of color options for the slim table selections at Room & Board (i'm thinking pink or green for the entry). But, my favorite might be the blue in this Crate & Barrel coffee table. You have to see it in person as it's absolute perfection! Holding my breath and crossing my fingers that this puppy might be coming home with me!

BLUSH + JADE

Two completely different variations of this pink, grey, green and white palette...

I'm loving them both. Which would you pick if you had to? I usually opt for cleaner, but in this case, I think I'll go with the first layered look. I just love the glow the room gets from those blushing walls...

This color combination will be making an appearance in the new apartment for sure, but not quite in these tones. I'll have some peeks at my progress to share with you soon!

RASPBERRY DREAMS

Could we all just pause for a moment in this hectic day to worship at this altar of raspberry trimmed with gold?
    milesredd via thelovelist
When I was in Las Vegas for market, I attended a panel that Tobi Fairely was speaking on. She mentioned that the best way to infuse color into a home is to do a monochromatic palette because it reads more as a neutral when you layer the same color (maybe different hues) on top of each other. I think this rule applies to this Miles Redd interior perfectly. Is it completely over the top? Sure. But the fact that it's all one shade makes it a little easier to digest.

But, let's be honest. All I really want are those walls.

GET HAPPY!

I thought we'd start the week off with something fabulously cheerful...
    kirra jamison by daniel mahon
These chairs! I mean, really... wouldn't they put on a smile on your face every morning? I'm not one to usually insert pink into my interiors, but these Casala classics are just too good! They're making me want to snatch up this pair for my own.

This home belongs to artist Kirra Jamison, whose pieces are pretty damn perky themselves:

FROM FANTASY TO FÊTE: LA VIE EN ROSÉ

Camille Styles here, with today's (girly, flowery and very, very pink) fantasy turned fête...

    rose-tasting-party-inspiration-board-c+k
I created this inspiration board as the jumping-off point to the prettiest of get-togethers... bachelorette party, anyone? A rosé wine tasting with yummy cheese pairings is set at a table adorned with garden roses and a simple, organic vibe. Celebrate the long days of summer with an al fresco affair that goes late into the evening...

    Rose_Wine_Tasting_Party-CamilleStyles
A beautiful wood farm table is the canvas for crisp white linens and a cheesecloth runner. Summer blooms in shades of blush pair perfectly with all that pink wine.

    Rose_Wine_Tasting_Party-CamilleStyles4
Each bottle of Rosé is also paired with a simple seasonal appetizer, like my peach + ricotta crostini (seriously, it's a new summer staple.)

    Rose_Wine_Tasting_Party-CamilleStyles2
When putting together a cheese tray, I try to follow these rules of thumb: Serve one to two ounces of cheese per person, include a mix of fresh, aged, soft and hard cheeses. Arrange – and sample – the cheeses starting with the freshest and lightest, ending with the ripest and most intense. Take a peek at one of my very favorite cheese displays.

    Rose_Wine_Tasting_Party-CamilleStyles1
To set up the tasting, create beautifully scripted labels that identify each wine and offer some suggestions on what flavors might make delicious pairings. Don’t forget to provide plenty of glassware for each guest to try multiple wines!

    Rose_Wine_Tasting_Party-CamilleStyles3
The loveliest pairing of all? A day spent with your best girlfriends and great wine. 'Cause really, that's all you need for the perfect fête!

ROOM OF THE WEEK 6.9

I know it's not exactly a full room...
    livingetc.decorista.flamingo pillows
But this is exactly where I want to be right now! This light-filled space has just enough playfulness about it (I mean, those flamingo pillows!? yes please!) mixed with fresh modern elements and plenty of white. I'd lounge all day... and wouldn't even have to close my eyes to pretend I was on vacation because this all screams beachy cool to me.

HAPPY (ROSE-COLORED) WEEKEND...

Ahhh, Friday. I thought you'd never come! It's been a long week balancing travel and deadlines, and I'm looking forward to a fairly quiet little weekend...
    dass
Before I get to unpacking and weekend chores, I think a little sleeping in will be in order.
    Etta and the city-3.skona hem
After that? I'm looking forward to some one-on-one time with a few very important ladies in my life! Setting the table for hours of conversation and catching up.

And, while I'm at it I'll do my best to put on some rose-colored glasses and make it a very happy little weekend! I wish the same to you!

ROOM OF THE WEEK 3.17

It's time for some fresh, fun glamour for this week's Room of the Week! I'm totally swooning for these adjoining rooms and the way the bright pinks + patterns are playing off each other while traditional pieces and modern lines mix in seamlessly...
    Stilmöten.skonahem.joseffrank
    Stilmöten.skonahem
Do you recognize the fabric on the sofa? It's a fun little Josef Frank print, which I seriously covet. I love all the gilded details too (of course!) and can you ever go wrong with that simple acrylic coffee table? I think not.

I had to point out the art in the dining room because it really connects the two areas together. The designer made an obvious choice to have the rooms really compliment each other because the area definitely could have been treated separately, but by bringing them together it opens up the whole house and makes the space feel  much larger.
    Stilmöten.skona hem
I never would have chosen such a pop art-inspired, bold colored piece for this traditional home, but it totally works! One word for this whole space - FUN!

SOFT ROCK

A pink music room for a rock princess?sheryl crow music room.AD
I never would have pictured the home of Sheryl Crow to be so romantic, but I absolutely loved it. Out of all the rooms in her expansive manse, however, this little one called to me. It seems so cozy and dreamy - the perfect spot for an artist to create in.

And, let's just talk about the latest issue of Architectural Digest for a second - it is fantastic. I can't believe what an amazing job Margaret Russell and her team have done in updating the publication and giving it new life while still maintaining the look and style of the brand. Bravo to them!
