OBSESSION: THE GROWN-UP PHOTO COLLAGE

Forget a full length wall mirror. I want a full length frame in my hallway housing all my most precious memories...
    207517495299545259_JjLfgywt_c
Funny enough, it took me about an hour to track down the source of this photo and it turns out it's by photographer Annie McElwain and resides in the space she shares with Bash, Please, whose offices we featured in Rue a while back, and happen to be two girls I adore. It's a small, small world.

ROOM OF THE WEEK: 11.29

I've been neglecting my Room of the Week duties lately with holiday on the brain, but when I spotted this stunning stunning bathroom, I knew I had to share...
    glamorous bathroom lighting
The lighting really takes the cake for me, but the intricate door is a close second. Mirror third. I'd almost prefer a vanity that was a bit more delicate, but it certainly helps anchor the room, and makes the marble seem to go on for days. I spy a bath I'd like to soak in for the rest of the day please...

LET'S GET DRAMATIC

We can't really talk about holiday decor without discussing a little styling in the dining room too...
    drama in dining
Along with my dramatic black Christmas tree, I'm going to have to create a table setting that can compete for attention! Perhaps some classic sophistication in black and warm neutrals (and a hit of red?)
    drama in dining3
Or a super vintage inspired mint and pale pink (with doses of black to tie in with the tree of course). I could see this going very retro meets deco.
    drama in dining2
Or, what my be my favorite (no surprise) a rich shade of green with tons of shimmering gold. Care to place your vote?

THE GOODY BAG: MAISON MAGNIFIQUE

As I always say, anytime a party has great music, sweet treats and fun people, it's definitely a success. It's Alissa from The Goods Design here with The Goody Bag - an insider's view of LA's interior design soirees.
    EVstore2
Last week I hit up the Erinn V Maison grand opening fete (that's me on the left with the fabulous ladies from Decorative Carpets.)

It's a furniture wonderland. In Los Angeles space is often at a premium - it's fantastic that the showroom for her furniture collection is so spacious you can see everything beautifully laid out.
    EVstore1
See that mirror with the bird feet? That's my favorite little goody from the showroom (in case anyone is wondering what to get me for the holidays!). And that large starburst mirror and fabulous sectional sofa are definitely on my lust-list as well.

Owner Erinn Valencich also heads up an incredible interior design firm (Erinn V Design Group) - so if you don't live in LA and can't pop into her showroom, I definitely suggest heading over to her website for some great inspiration. Here's a little preview of what you'll see...
    erinv3
Erinn V Maison is located at 319 S. Robertson Blvd. between 3rd and Burton. If you don't see my favorite mirror, it's probably because I've snatched it up for myself!

WHEN IN DOUBT...

Ok, kids, here's the deal. I cannot for the life of me decide on a sofa for my apartment. For a long time now, I've been dreaming of this one because I love the petite shape and how feminine it is, and it's actually quite comfortable. But then I saw this one...
    Irene Langlois.hgtv
And it was love at first peek! My default setting for moments of panic and confusion when it comes to my interiors (and my closet for that matter) is to go with black and white. And while it is, admittedly, a very safe choice, it's also very classic.
    Irene Langlois.hgtv2
I adore the black trim detail and how cozy the piece looks. And, there will still be plenty of color in my own space to keep things soft and playful. While I'd be looking at doing it in a bit more modern shape, I'd keep the skirt and all. Still feminine and traditional, but a very different look from my original inclination... so what do you think? Do I go for it?

BOLD + BLUE

On the heels of this morning's color palette post, I found these stunning blue built-ins that resonated with me for similar reasons...
    111
    1111
Sharp, saturated, bold color coming right at you! Could you live with this? I think it works in a large, dramatic space, and I like the way they've incorporated the blue in the floors and upholstery, but I don't know if I could handle it myself. Still... it makes a stunning impact. If you had built ins (or maybe you do!) what color would you paint them? I'm thinking I'd keep them white on the inside, but outline them in a deep kelly green...

HIGH POINT HIGHLIGHTS: BRONZED

There were a ton of trends at High Point Market this year that I've picked up on, but one of my favorites was the use of brass. Everywhere. We've been seeing it for a while now and it always takes a season or to for these little trends to go big, but I think brass is officially back (in the marketplace!) Which, of course, means that after next season there will be a new mainstream metal. (I'm predicting hammered high shine nickel. I've seen quite a bit of it already.) But, before we get ahead of ourselves... a few favorites:
    DSC02605
This little series from Ralph Lauren for Visual Comfort reminds me of horse bits, perfectly aligning with many of the other equestrian inspired pieces in the line. And, quite delicate too.
    bronze detail casegoods table
Brass on casegoods - major major love. Everything has a campaign or (again) equestrian feel with details like rings, handles, corner brackets and more. The white table is so perfect for my apartment... I may need to snag it!
    DSC02585
Brass on upholstery? Yes, yes, yes! Makes a simple piece way more interesting.
    dramatic bronze lighting mirror
And my favorite way to do brass - a little dark, industrial or dramatic. I'm dying to use this pendant in my dad's restaurant design!

HIGH POINT TOUR No. 3: DREXEL HERITAGE

My favorite stop on our sponsored tours in High Point a couple weeks back was the Drexel Heritage showroom. Part of that had to do with the amazing merchandising, but a good portion was also some incredible pieces and beautiful fabrics!
    DSC02775
    DSC02776
The showroom is absolutely huge and one area weaves into another, subtly changing themes as they go.  This was the more rustic 'wine country' inspired space that I really gravitated towards. Very cozy and a traditional meets industrial meets rustic vibe.
    drexel wovens
The front room showcased this new collection exploring a 'wovens' theme in a new way. It's hard to tell from the photos, but there was lots of brass detail in the collection that really completed it for me. The seat portion of the chair is actually brass, and the detail between the drawers of the dresser as well.
    drexel faves
But my favorite in the new collection is the side table to the right with a little leather pull. So so simple and gorgeous with its rounded edges! And to the left? One of many upholstered pieces that I fell in love with...
    DSC02796
Not the least of which was this bed! That headboard is divine and so original! I loved the fabric they chose to spice these pieces up. In fact I think the bed would go perfectly with this seating area...
    DSC02793
This vignette was my heaven on earth. We entered a part of the showroom with more natural light and at the very back was this mix of patterns in some of my favorite colors. I literally want to pick this up and put it right down in my living room! Especially the chintz settee. I'm dying!
    drexel1
See how gorgeous the detail is?? I kind of want to steal the console table to go with. Love that you can do this in any fabric...
    DSC02767
Or leather! Like this Moroccan inspired seating area with a very Missoni-esque chair. The juxtaposition of such a traditional little sofa in this mix is perfect. Did you spy some favorite pieces here?? I could seriously move in!

DECK THE WALLS

The holidays may be just around the corner, but we've still got a whole month to celebrate fall, and I've been gathering some ideas on decor for a harvest dinner featuring my dad's famous butternut squash ravioli that I've been craving lately.

Then, inspiration hit me when going through some photos from a trip to east coast a few months ago...
    IMG_2198
Fall leaves are one of my most favorite things in the world, and this stunning wall in the Twelve Chairs showroom in Boston may be the best homage I've seen on the subject. The leaves are actually pinned (!!!) on to create a stunning pattern.
    IMG_2197
I feel like there's all sorts of ways to get crafty with this idea (maybe even some that are kid friendly?) I could see myself doing this in a smaller scale on my bulletin board, and tacking them up around a menu?

Of course, I'm also loving this inspiration for walls as well...
    DSC01398
In the beautiful Seedhouse showroom in Manhattan, owner Ellen Carey created this wall all herself. Feathers, feathers, and more feathers in a gorgeous shade of yellow! A more permanent installation that could take some serious time, but again, done smaller scale could be fun for a fall party, no?

What would you do with these ideas? My brain is spinning and my dinner party is this weekend!

ON THE HUNT: THE PERFECTLY LAYERED RUG

Thanks to my huge bank of bedroom inspirations there is one element I can confidently say will be happening in my own space: a double layer of rugs. The only part that I've yet to determine, is what combination!
    131618557_f6sQVc0T_c
I'm guessing the smaller rug will be one of three options - sheepskin, cowhide or a small Moroccan rug. And the larger could really be anything. I love this combo where a large scale pattern plays well off of the traditional Moroccan piece.
    Picture 3
For a bit more visual texture, the combination of sisal and cowhide is kind of fun! I'm not sure how soft either would be on the feet, but it sure does look good. Maybe best kept to warmer climates?
    lonny.195065-7-05Mellett
And the option I'm leaning towards the most at the moment - white on white. A cozy white rug with white sheepskin atop. Of course, any combination of these would work... Pattern + sheepskin? Sisal + Moroccan?
    layered rugs
What would be your perfect pairing?

HIGH POINT TOUR No. 2: THOMASVILLE

Ok, let's be honest here people. I can't remember the last time I thought of Thomasville as a source for my clients or myself. The stigma attached is matchy, oversized, too much ornate wood collection. Right? But guess what? We're wrong. After two seconds in the showroom I realized that Thomasville has had  a serious facelift. Piece are more streamlined, forward thinking and stylish than they've ever been. Case in point...
    DSC02739
I loved this newer collection (appropriately named Reinvention) that brought a more industrial elements to their pieces. Perfect for urban loft living or a modern cabin, with interesting detail like these handles they created that were inspired by their old factory pieces.
    thomasville1
And on the extreme opposite end, there were some soft, elegant designs that felt very vintage inspired...
    DSC02730
    DSC02734
Loved these bookcases with the built in lighting and that little detail at the top that gives a hint of a pagoda feel. The combination of drawers and shelving makes them incredibly versatile and functional on top of all that beauty.
    DSC02737
Another side of Thomasville I hadn't seen were their selection of headboards - and as someone who is seriously on the hunt, I have to say I was impressed! This was my favorite. Contrast piping and tufting? Heck yeah!

And for those of us who look for something simple and classic, the Modern Theory line that was introduced last market really drew me in...
    DSC02746
    DSC02744
So... what do you think? If you saw these pieces in a home, would you ever guess they were Thomasville? I think I've certainly had my eyes opened to their new look!

HIGH POINT TOUR No.1: LANE VENTURE

With winter just around the corner, it's not exactly time to be thinking of furnishing the outdoors, but when we walked into the Lane Venture showroom at High Point, I was instantly imagining my dream patio someday harboring some of their chic collections...
    DSC02707
I loved these cozy chairs that look like you could just sink into for a nice outdoor dinner - behind is a fully matching patio set too. Their woven pieces are such great quality.

The showroom also had some fun newer pieces that I hadn't seen yet, like this sofa built to be the center of a party - the whole frame is meant to be sat on! Slightly genius, don't you think?
    DSC02713
    lane venture1
Peek into that room behind the dining table and you can see the extent of the fabrics available for all the outdoor pieces...
    DSC02710
On top of all the wovens and metals, Lane Venture prides itself on their soft furniture offerings - basically what looks like a regular sofa - that are completely safe for the outdoors. We got a little demo on how these pieces are built to weather the elements, and I have to say I was impressed!
    lane venture3
And last but not least, two of my favorite set ups!
    lane venture2
    DSC02724
A really fun little collection of pieces in the wovens, and something a little more chic with the fabric chairs for the outdoors. I guess there's something for everyone, right? Have any of you use Lane Venture in your projects or own homes? I'd love to hear what you think!
