HAPPY (TO RELAX) WEEKEND

It seems like the week before a holiday is always a bit chaotic. Everyone is scrambling to finish projects and deadlines before we all disappear for a few days. Me? I've been juggling so much I can't even keep track of my to do list. But on top of that, I've been trying to make more time to focus on myself a little bit...

Because the holidays are upon us and that means it's time for a little pampering to look bright and beautiful for holiday parties! No to mention rid myself of the damage done to skin and body by all my recent travel. So I have to share a little story with you...
    fall weekend
Last week I went for a facial at my favorite new spa here in Seattle - Spa Noir. It's small and cozy and very personal. As Jessica (my new beauty BFF and owner of the spa) refreshed my skin and spewed out endless tips and info on keeping my skin in better shape, she suggested I come back this week for a massage. But not your average massage - a little taste of some Craniosacral Therapy. Ever heard of it? Ever done it? It's amazing. And it feels a bit like this...

Incredibly relaxing and relieving, the massage therapist begins by tuning in to your body's rhythm and flow of cerebrospinal fluid (think of it as how the heart pumps blood through the body... except there's no pump).  Then, using light pressure all around the head and spine, the therapist works to get the fluid into spaces that may be restricted or lacking in flow. (You can read more about it here.)

While I'd recommend a good 'ol fashioned massage for working out muscle aches and kinks, this is a whole different type of therapy. It put me in a dream like state and relaxed my jaw (I clench when I'm stressed!) but also helped bring me to a calmer, clearer state of mind. For stressed out Seattleites, I'd highly recommend calling Spa Noir to book your own session (ask for Destiny!). And for the rest of you, doing a little research on craniosacral specialists in your own area might be a good idea! Consider it your stress relieving savior for the crazy holiday season.

Here's hoping you have a perfectly relaxing weekend! I can't wait to share my own Thanksgiving tabletop with you next week!
